Organizational Diagram
The people who are working closest to our customers are the staff and casual employees in our restaurants. Idea does not operate by making decisions in the Head Office, communicating them to the front line, and making the people there do what was decided. Rather, the front-line staff who hear the views of the customers devise new menus, events, and projects, and each restaurant implements those ideas which are suitable for their store.
The front line is the propulsion force of the company. The front line is the driving force that pulls the company along.
In standard pyramidal companies priority is given to profit and efficiency and neither the views of customers nor the views of people on the front line are utilized. People are evaluated based on whether they did what was decided by the Head Office as they were told or as stated in a manual. With this approach employees lose their awareness of the need to make the customers excited and happy.
All of the restaurants operated by Idea have different menus. This is because we believe that even if two or more restaurants are the same, if they are in different locations the customers who come to the stores will want different food, and therefore to offer exactly the same menu is no more than pushy salesmanship on the part of the stores.
Idea has opened restaurants in a variety of locations, including shopping zones, office zones, and residential areas. In all of these stores all of the staff members and casual employees have conversations with the customers who come to the store, get their feedback about the store, and share ideas for the development of the store’s menu with each other. It is not a matter of employees doing what they were told in the way that has been decided already. All employees share their insights to improve the satisfaction of customers and build up their store and build up the company!
This is the approach and attitude of Idea’s Organizational Diagram.
